Blood Brothers
by Willy Russell 21st June - 5th July 2010
Presented with the kind permission of Casarotto Ramsay and Samuel French
Directed by Malcolm Beasley
As part of Doncaster Little Theatre's community development project, which aims to increase the accessibility of the arts to Doncaster residents, Blood Brothers was shown at a number of community venues around Doncaster.
This is a captivating and unforgettable story set in Liverpool spanning several decades. It tells of a working class single mother in financial desperation who gives away one of her new-born sons to middle class family in the hope he’ll gain a better life.
Scuffer
by Mark Catley Directed by Kevin Spence - 24 - 29 May 2010 at 7.30 pm
Mark Catley came to see the Saturday performance! The cast and crew were surprised and delighted, and Mark's reaction to our work was incredibly positive.
In a radio interview he said he was 'blown away' by the performance. Not only did he think the show was the equal of the original professional production at West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, but he also felt that our version of the final scenes was even better.
Getting On
by Alan Bennett Directed by Angela Wren - 25 - 30 January 2010
“Thatcher the milk snatcher”, decimalisation and a new Conservative Government – Yes it’s 1971 and the Little Theatre’s production of Alan Bennett’s “Getting On”, directed by Angela Wren offers a nostalgic glimpse of the early seventies, whilst having a resonance to the political situation as we enter an election year and a new decade.
